About Aung Chaint

Aung Chaint is a poet from Burma. He is one of the poets who helped shape the modern poetry era. Many of Aung Chu's poetry impacted Burmese poets.


In 1948, Aung Chaint was born. He completed high school but was more engaged in and involved in Yangon District Student Union student activities than in literature. 1964 He was captured at the age of 16 and imprisoned for 15 months. He began composing poems throughout the strike time.


Aung Chaint is Thukha Main Hlaing, Maung Chaw Nwel, and he pioneered the contemporary Burmese poetry movement alongside other poets such as For Way. For Way's poetry collection Aung Chaint, Maung Chaw Nwel, Cruel song on dead leaves is particularly noteworthy. Gandawin Ma Ma (written in 1974 and published in 1977), Khin Khin Pyo Yel Wait Khet Tal, Athae Swel Ka Byaw Sayar, and Taw Lar are some of Aung Chaint's most renowned poems.
